This book is a comprehensive history of the parish of Stanway, including areas that are now part of Eight Ash Green and Shrub End, covering the pre - Victorian era. This work traces over 84 properties and the families connected with them, along with the Churches, Inns & Workhouses.

A4 size with a full-colour laminate cover, there are 192 pages containing 140 illustrations including photographs, maps, old documents and 16 full colour plates.

Published in 2002, the book was partly funded by subscription orders from Stanway residents and others interested in the history of the Parish and partly by a grant from The Benham Seaman Trust.
